Start paying yourself the rent check.

These documents are needed to start any home loan or refinance application:

• W-2's for the last 2 years
• Bank & investment statements for the last 2 months (all pages please)
• Pay stubs for the last 30 days
• Good copies of your driver’s license and social security card

If a person is self-employed for at least 2 years, they will need to provide their tax returns for the past 2 years.

If a person is in a position where he/she received commission for the past 2 years, and needs that commission to qualify, they will need to provide their tax returns for the last 2 years.

In most cases, this will be enough information to get started and determine what kind of loan you qualify for.
